Not financial advice

avgr is a mathematical calculator. It does not provide financial advice, investment recommendations, or any form of financial service. All investment decisions are solely your responsibility.

1. What avgr is

avgr (avgr.app) is a free, browser-based calculator that computes the mathematical effect of purchasing additional shares on a stock position's weighted average cost per share. It is a tool for visualizing arithmetic relationships, nothing more.

avgr is not a broker-dealer, investment adviser, financial planner, or any other type of regulated financial professional or firm. It is not registered with any financial regulatory authority in any jurisdiction.

2. Not financial advice

Nothing on avgr.app constitutes financial advice, investment advice, trading advice, or any other kind of advice. The calculations, charts, and statistics displayed are purely mathematical outputs based on the numbers you enter.

Averaging down on a declining stock carries substantial financial risk, including the total loss of capital. The fact that a calculator can model a lower average cost per share does not mean that buying more shares is a sound strategy in any given situation. A lower average price does not guarantee profitability — it only reduces your cost basis.

Past price behaviour is not indicative of future results. Always consult a qualified, licensed financial adviser before making investment decisions.

3. Accuracy & no warranty

avgr uses 28-digit decimal arithmetic (via Elixir's Decimal library) to minimise floating-point rounding errors. However, the tool is provided "as is" with no warranty of any kind — express or implied — regarding accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, or uninterrupted availability.

The calculations assume whole-share purchases (shares are floored to the nearest integer) and a fixed broker fee rate. Real-world brokers may apply different fee structures, fractional share support, or order-routing rules that produce different results. Always verify calculations with your actual broker before placing orders.

4. Your data & privacy

Calculations are performed server-side on a stateless endpoint — your inputs are processed to produce results and are never stored, logged, or shared with third parties. avgr.app has no database, no user accounts, and retains no personal data between sessions.

With your consent, avgr.app uses Google Analytics to collect anonymised usage data (pages visited, session duration, approximate country). This helps us understand how visitors find and use the tool. No financial inputs, personal identifiers, or cross-site tracking data are collected. You can withdraw consent at any time by clearing your browser's local storage for avgr.app.

If you decline analytics cookies, no tracking scripts are loaded and no data is sent to Google. avgr.app does not use advertising pixels or any other third-party trackers beyond Google Analytics.

5. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, avgr.app and its authors shall not be liable for any financial loss, lost profits, consequential damages, or any other damages of any kind arising from your use of, or reliance on, this tool or its outputs.

By using avgr.app you acknowledge that you are using the tool at your own risk and that all investment decisions you make are entirely your own.

6. Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated at any time without notice. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the tool after any update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
